I’m baaaack! It’s a brand new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and that means a new season of my recap show Drag Center on LogoTV.com!
The mother of all twists is that this year, there’s two openings! For me that’s a fun Friday night. But I digress, yes there two premieres with the girls split into two groups of seven. This week we are treated to Ben De La Creme, Kelly Mantle, Adore Delano, Laganja Estranga, April Carrion, Vivacious and Gia Gunn. And what do I think of these new contestants? The only thing Gia Gunn was dripping was venom. Does anyone have a rolled up newspaper? Because that b*itch needs a swat. When the funniest thing everyone shows is one of the judges doing a squirrel imitation, you know there was some vanilla flavor elsewhere.

You hit the nail on the head! I can already tell I hate Gia. The best thing was during untucked when she said how important personality was to the competition…. You think she ever thought about taking her own advice? Or is that going to take some introspection that is probably beyond her? Furthermore– why is the first challenge the sewing challenge?? Wouldn’t it make more sense to see the queens personalities first– and not how well they can hot glue a bunch of random fabric together. Call me skeptical, I just don’t think that “America’s Next Drag Superstar” is ever going to have to sew a hodgepodge makeshift gown together in 3 hours in the real world. The point is, I love you Pandora! I wish there was a contestant like you this season!

It’s fun to have the sewing challenge first and no queen has any excuse. They KNOW it’s going to happen. Take a god damn sewing lesson or watch a YouTube video tutorial or something. 😉

I was talking with Ba’Naka after the viewing party Monday how ridiculous it is that we are on Season 6 and there are still contestants that aren’t prepared for a sewing challenge or any other challenge that they have EVERY season. I can’t wait to see who will be the first to take off their wig during a lip sync! lol! And who did the lighting for this RuCap? They made you look more pale than the vampires on Twilight! I loved the outfit though! Can’t wait to see what you say about Darienne Lake next week!

Pandora, you are looking gorgeous! Don’t know what I would do without your recaps, since you are like a fake best friend to me. I love the campy girls, so Ben Delacreme is a goddess to me – and the Golden Girls cheesecake reference? Oh girl, my heart was a-flutter. April Carrion is just plain ol delicious, and I was gushing just like Adam Lambert over her adorableness in that hunting ensemble. Agree on Gia – I have been having nightmares of her intonation of “absolut-LY” – she sounds like an annoying teenage girl from the valley on quaaludes, but I like the bitchy streak. Need to have a mean girl to keep things real. And, though some general weirdness, that styrofoam head from the craft store with glued on sequins was unrefined (Oh, Ornacia!) – though the lip sync saved her!

Ben was really good, but I agree with Michelle until we see some more personality. Ben is also cute out of drag. Seems like there will be a bunch of comedy queens this season. My heart is rooting for Vivacious though since she’s an old school queen. She’s bordering on Grace Jones realness. And Gia is just hoping to get an Absolut vodka commercial.

Yeah, sorry! I work for Logo and they only have the US rights. I couldn’t make the time commitment to writing full recaps for each episode. But I’ll try to write more for next weeks!
This was spot on. Ben De La Creme was the only queen who did a great job. The other six were train wrecks! I was sorry to see Kelly Mantle go…I think she would’ve done well on the other challenges, but she was barely trying during that lip sync. Vivacious wasn’t too good…she was just the least bad of the two.

Well… I think he attitude on the show sucks. But I only judge people on the show not in real life. I also have been through it and know what it’s like to be under that scrutiny.
